Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon surrounds one with strangeness. Even after seeing Red Canyon and Kodachrome Basin, the sheer number and vibrant colors and really wierd shapes of the hoodoos (the eroded red sandstone pillars) were wondrous. A cluster of hoodoos will often look like a group of people. One can see the likenesses of all sorts of things in these stones.

Our first Bryce stop was late in the day on the east side of the Park. Janet danced on a log near this waterfall.
The next day we hiked the Fairyland Trail. Truly delightful!
These stones looked like Gaudi apartments ->
Big Views and strange shapes.
Near the south end of the Park you can find the Natural Bridge and the Poodle.
Near the head of the Navajo Trail we spied this critter.
The Navajo Trail leads to "Wall Street" where full size trees grow in the 100 foot slot.
Scene near the end of the Navajo Trail and switchbacks on the way.
Many of the forms have names, but we renamed them. Thor's hammer became Aunt Jemima with a basket on her head. Nearby are her friends. Below are a boar's head, Henry Moore sculpture, St. Peter buying grapes.
