Pine Barrens of New Jersey

- Batsto State Park -

The Pine Barrens near the Central Coast of New Jersey are an unusual mix of wetlands/bog ecosystems and lowlands forests. There is diversity of species of plants and animals. This time of year the leaves are beginning to turn colors for autumn. And the mushrooms are up like no other season! We spent a couple hours hiking along the rivers and bogs here Saturday afternoon Oct. 12,1996.
